The Farm Chicks

Found this neat little blog, website and cookbook! These ladies have some great ideas! They live in Spokane, Washington and I am planning a trip for next year's "Farm Chicks" Market Sale! No really, I'm serious! Their show is exactly what I'd love to do here in Utah...so join me June, 2010...save for airfare, rental car & hotel...wouldn't this be a fun chick trip?? Or maybe we can drive and then load up our car to the top with new stuff! And then we can head over to Seattle and hit the flower market! LOVE the flower market! Fall is Right Around the Corner

I know, I know...it's still summer and October is 2 whole months away! But I can't help but get a little excited for Halloween! Plus I have to get in the "fall mode" and start designing stuff for my show in September! One event my girls and I attend every year is "Witches Night Out" at Gardner's Village! My oldest daughter will be home from New Jersey & my other daughter Kayla and I will be heading out to this wild event! It's seriously is a wild & crazy night of dancing, dress-ups, feasting & shopping! I love Gardner Village and take my family there many times during the year. My little ones love the pony rides and petting zoo and all of the holidays that Gardner Village celebrates! Their live nativity at Christmas time is just beautiful and tastefully done...using live animals & beautiful music...I love the different ways they decorate the place! I'm always impressed by their attention to details, every nook & crannie is decorated so cute...so if you haven't been, GO! And if you're interested in joining me for a Witchy night out, leave a comment! The event is October 16th & 17th for ladies 18 & up! They are also holding a Wee Witches event on October 1 - 3rd so our little guys can get their spook on! They'll have carriage rides that take you to a witch's house! Fun! If you're REALLY into Halloween you can even audition to be a Gardner Village witch...tempting, but NO...I just like to go and have a good time & see all the amazing witches!

Yummers!

Remember those apples & raspberries I picked? Yes picked! Right off the bushes and trees...! On a farm no less! Well I whipped them up into a delicious & tasty sweet dessert...I'm always so pleased with myself when something I make or bake turns out good...I'm not the best cook but am getting better at baking! Yay! PS - It was delicious!
Today is the book release blog party for Tara Frey's "Blogging For Bliss" Just visit the website http://www.artsymama.com to find out more information! Her book has lots of information on blogging, how to promote your blog and about designing tips...exactly what I need...her blog is adorable by the way! Take a look!

Retro vs Vintage

Retro vs. Vintage...anyone know the difference? I think these cool tin signs I picked up at a little shop called "Sugar & Spice" are considered retro...maybe it's the era? If you do know the diff, please post a comment so I can edumacate myself! I saw these and they brought back memories of summertime drive-in theatres, these characters dancing on the screen informing of all the yummy stuff available at the snack bar...! I remember laying in the back of our family station wagon, watching a movie and a love scene coming on the screen and my mother yelling to my Dad! "OMGosh! Let's get out of here! The kids can't see this stuff! My Dad hauled out of the theatre and we watched the love scene unfolding (which is probably rated G these days) as we drove away from the theatre...! I think the movie was Love Story....good times! To this day I remember that love scene! So much for my Mom trying to protect me! At least that time it didn't work! I hung these little guys in my office...aren't they sweet?

Delicious!

So my friend makes the most delectable caramel apple pie....it is SO GOOD! They come in HUGE squares which I cut into 4's so we could all share...I should've taken more pictures of the other goodies like chocolate brownies w/marshmallows & chocolate frosting, lemon squares, raspberry pie, german chocolate & blonde brownies...everything is to die for....too bad her bakery is 2 1/2 hours away...anyone up for a drive?

I'm Back from Preston!

So I took a quickie trip to Preston, Idaho...yes...the famous town of Preston where Napoleon Dynamite was filmed! So cool! My friend Brandi opened a new little store & bakery and I headed out to bring some stuff I made and to help out...! So in the past 24 hours I have attended a parade, sold baked goods, visited historical pioneer sites and did a drive by of the high school that was used in Napoleon Dynamite's film and happens to be the school that Brandi's husband graduated from! Cool again! I was amazed at the beauty of the land out there and woke up early this morning, took a walk by the lake at the back of their house, picked apples & raspberries and I can't wait to get cookin! What a fun getaway!

The Ol Living Room Make-Over

I boldly went into my basement, which seriously is a danger zone and dug through boxes and bins and found a bunch of stuff for the most inexpensive sitting room (as my British husband calls it) MAKEOVER! With a bottle of spraypaint I armed myself and changed my little black sofa table into a little red sofa table.. The only new item was my sofa slip cover....I love DENIM! I like the versatility of denim. With a few simple changes in decor & pillows I can have a whole different look...right now I'm going for the beachy, cottage look. It was fun displaying the shells we've collected in Seaside, Oregon..it brought back great memories of summer days at Grandma's house! (When I look at these pictures the room looks so empty! It's much better in real life!) The paintings on the wall are water colors that my Mom painted of my kids on the beach...I LOVE those paintings and miss my Mom so much! She only has one year left in the Philippinnes as a missionary and then she can return to her REAL job...being a grandma! Love you MOM!
