First 5K, Parades & Carnivals - Summer is Here!

We know it's summer in our town because our annual 5k race, parade, carnival and outdoor concert that start our summer off!  I'm so proud to tell you my 10 year old daughter ran her first 5k race!  She was AMAZING!  She ran it in about 20 minutes coming in faster than many of the adult racers!  I was so proud of her...such an accomplishment at her age!  We then headed over to the parade and then on to the carnival....carnivals are an adventure in itself....the many toothless carnival workers that show up a week ahead to set up their trailers, put the rides and games together making it a magical weekend for kids love carnivals and the fact that the parade and the park where the carnival is held are all walking distance from our house make me love this small town!  My husband and I volunteered to be parking attendants for the concert and were able to see Clint Black and the fireworks show in exchange...We all went to bed exhausted but happy!

Here's my girl getting ready to run!
Lot's of our good friends ran too...
She finishes strong, running the fastest at the lastest...

Parades and good friends...and large buckets for catching candy!

 Cute cousins!
I want one of these for my daycare...could you imagine toting around town with my Little Chicks in this!???
 On to the carnival!
Swings are good...but their most favorite ride was the Ferris Wheel!
the rode it over and over and over again....good, good times!

Every year it's one of the most fun weekends we spend together as a family....!  Sorry no pictures of the concert!  Clint Black was awesome!  The concerts are held in our outdoor amphitheatre and it was just my husband and I singing to the music and snuggling during the beautiful firework display....the only thing that wasn't perfect was the gross old couple laying all over each other at the concert....get a room people!
How are you celebrating summer?

  1. I was shocked when Kenzie told me how fast she ran it. That is blazing fast. Crazy! Looking at your pictures makes me sad that we missed it all.

  2. that is amazingly fast! my fastest is 29 mins but i'm not very good at running and probably twice her age! :-)

  3. Your daughter is beautiful - and what a brilliant feat to run so far and in such great time too! You are so right to be proud x

  4. Excellent post. I was checking continuously this
blog and I'm impressed! Very helpful information particularly the last part :) I care for such info much. I was looking for this particular info for a very long time. Thank you and good luck.
