I recently attended a great class on OrGaNiZaTiOn!  It was held at the South Jordan Conservation Garden and hosted by the amazing Cynthia Bee (I love her name!)  The speaker was Ann Hendrickson and she said so many things in that class that really hit home for me....I have accumulated so many things over the years...I am definitely a "collector" bordering on hoarding...I get attached...I find it hard to let go of things for a couple of reasons...1)  If I keep this item long enough it may be valuable one day  2)  I might need it someday.  3)  I paid for it so I'm keeping it...throwing it away would be such a waste of money!!  Isn't that crazy?

So I have stored box after box and tote after tote of things I never need or use...I currently cannot park in my garage (my husband can park so I'm telling myself I'm not that bad)...I can barely walk into my basement and that makes me sad...TOO MUCH STUFF and such a waste of awesome space!!!  Sooooo... I'm on a roll now...getting rid of things, donating and selling...I have a lot of fun vintage items and I decided to start Vintage Yard Sale Utah on Facebook in order to clean up my act!!  Join me there and if you are a vintage collector bordering on hoarding then join me in purging and come post your fun items for sell!  Let me tell you...it's a very freeing experience and I've even made a little money too!

Here are some of the things Ann recommends...

*** Have nothing in your home that you don't know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful ***
*** The less you own, the less you have to own up to ***

7 Habits of Highly Organized People

1) Write everything down  2)  Keep flat surfaces clear  3)  Find a place for everything  4)  Never leave a room empty-handed   5)  File, Don't Pile  6)  Purge & de-clutter often  7)  Make a plan (Consult, sort, purge, clean, organize)

There was SO much more information...you can read more here:

The class was a good one for me...I really needed it...I am amazed at how I've stayed motivated...I have a long way to go but I will get there...!!!

  1. Very cool. I so need to be better at this. Paper is the bane of my existence.
