Playroom Makeover Update!

Here are some before and after shots of the playroom makeover....I only have a few things left to do....curtains and moulding...oh yes, caulking and painting the baseboards...

Spackle, spackle!  I had 1,000 nail/pin holes to cover!  Spackling Paste: Home Depot

I did love the color of my office before, but it was not a good color for a playroom...the windows on the right will have some fun, red curtains ...I'm thinking of using the same red fabric in the banner you'll see below...still trying to decide...

THE best paint in the world....more $$ but more coverage and I even had some leftover...saves a lot of time
BEHR paint-n-primer in one:  Home Depot
Color:  "Ocean Kiss"

Chalkboard paint, the best invention ever...found it at Home Depot for $9.99 per can and I've used it for tons of projects!

Worker man Dayton (as the kids call him) putting the trim around it...the trim was left over from a flooring project...found it in the garage...

The cute little characters above the chalkboard are metal. These used to play across the big screen at the drive-in theatre when I was a kid...yeah, that's just how old I am...I bought them at this cute little boutique in Idaho one time...they are dancing popcorn, dancing hot dog and soda...the kids have a little store which has also become a movie theatre ticket booth...picture below...

Shelving was at Ikea...shelves, $7.99 each and the supports were $4.99 each

Rug from Ikea, $39.99 and cube shelving was from Robert's Craft stores...bought a cube at a time with my 40% off coupon til I had enough...little table & chairs were from Ikea too...

Sorry for the sideways picture, I was trying to get fancy...sometimes it works, this time, not so much...but I bought this little "store" at Target...but the kids use it as a movie theatre ticket booth...in order to help it be authentic, I've been eating the large movie theatre boxes of candy so we can stuff the box and seal it and pretend to sell candy at the movie theatre...it's a work in progress...a delicious work, but a job that must be done...this is also a pet store and the kids fill those bins with little dogs & kitties and whatever else their little imaginations help them create.

A lot of my collectibles are now safely stored on the high shelves...

I love, love how the chalkboard turned out...can't wait to get the pop of red curtains in on those ugly blinds...

Retro Kitchen - Target, hanging quilt, boutique in California, red shelf by Pottery Barn but has been in my basement for years...my basement is literally a flea market...if I dig around long enough, I can find good stuff in it....soon it will be emptied out and sold or donated....I have too much crap.  I'll be hanging something on that wall to the left...hopefully a print that says, "Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake" or "Playroom rules"...something fun...that shelf is just too high and needs something below it...

This little farm print I bought years ago as a kid at a place called the "The Nut Tree" located in Vacaville, CA.  We'd always stop there for their famous marshmallow sauce and pineapple, mini-hamburgers (probably the original sliders) and a huge shop filled with all kinds of goodies, art, toys...etc...it was a magic world to me when I was a kid...they had a train that took you on rides throughout the beautiful property, a toy store loaded with everything you'd ever want and a candy store with those huge lollypops and jawbreakers....outside were ginormous rocking horses and a beautiful Merry-go-round..the place was amazing....
My Dad matted and framed this picture for me...it's a true treasure.

I love that I can store some of my favorite things without little hands getting to them....I had the shelves hung a little high for that purpose, but pictures and shelving should usually be hung at eye level...so says my interior designer sister...

Love this fabric!  Found it at "The Quilting Cottage", a cute fabric store in American Fork, Utah.  I'm thinking of using the red on the windows...or finding another red based print to go with this little banner...see the little chicks on the brown fabric?  Perfect for my business called "Little Chicks Daycare".

Found these adorable mini collanders at Orson Gygi and at "Hip and Humble" my most favorite store in downtown Salt Lake...I posted about this store a while ago, go here...I need to add some more colors to my collection...I currently have the pink & blue...but I want green, yellow & red...
I love how it adds so much color!

and that's it for now....no new major projects until I complete the playroom...100%...one project at a time....I had fun with this room though...it was a great excuse for me to buy fun stuff!  Next project:  The master bedroom....(hopefully)
