Birthday Fun

My friend Shanon and I had a party for our crazy fun 9 year olds. Here are some of the pictures. We are both on tight budgets and found some very inexpensive ways to decorate! The theme was a Tea Party and the girls were invited to bring their favorite dolls...everything we made was in big & small sizes to accomodate both girl & doll! It became challenging and fun to find things for both girl & doll!

I found this great tin of post cards on my trip to Denver & the invitations were born! They were addressed to each girl & their favorite doll....little french postal stamps were used to make it look like they were delivered by the mailman.

Here are the birthday girls! They had so much fun!

They brought their favorite dollies...it was fun to see the variety and I love this age...they still love their dolls! They are still little girls.
Ginormous cupcakes were made special for the birthday girls. These babies were seriously ginormous, over 8 inches tall!

Itty bitty cupcakes for the dolls. Everything we served was wheat free!

Chocolate dipped strawberries are easy & a favorite!

Little chocolates which disappeared quickly...

Veggies & Dip

Each girl and their doll received a goodie bag filled with treats...large gumballs, mints, gumdrops & suckers, pencils & markers for the girls and the same items, only smaller, for their dolls.

Inexpensive & easy to make tissue flowers floated throughout the house...

the girls made large & small composition books, covering them in paper, flowers, buttons & their personal initial....they really enjoyed this project!
Shanon helping the girls w/their books....

Button, button, who has the buttons...?

Look how good they turned out...these girls were the perfect age for this activity...

Our photographer, Torsten Bangerter did an amazing job capturing the girls in different, silly poses.

First, a very serious pose...
Second, the goofy pose
Third, "give your friend a hug pose"
The girls had a marvelous time, which is what really matters, right? We were able to stick to a budget & working with a friend helps with cutting expenses in half!
